Caloocan City Mayor Along Malapitan publicly acknowledged the generosity of Asher, a first-year student at Caloocan City Science High School, who donated his "alkansya savings" to the city’s feeding program. The young student’s contribution was warmly received by the local government, emphasizing the value of even modest donations in promoting communal aid.
"Thank you, Asher, for offering your saved money to the feeding program despite being a student yourself," Mayor Malapitan expressed during their meeting. He further noted, "Your compassion reminds us that no amount is too small when it comes to helping others."
The mayor personally accepted the donation in his office and invited Asher to participate in one of the feeding programs as a gesture of gratitude. Mayor Malapitan explained, "Since you want to assist the children, we will make sure your support has an impact."
The feeding program selected Gregoria De Jesus Elementary School due to its proximity to Asher’s school, facilitating a direct connection between the donor and beneficiaries.
To commend Asher’s selflessness and kindness, the mayor presented him with a gift certificate to celebrate his birthday with his classmates. "For your birthday, you should have a party; consider this our gift for your classmates,” Malapitan said.
Additionally, the mayor gifted Asher a souvenir cap and tumbler, symbolizing his identity as a "Kankaloo" student. "Because you’re a proud member of Caloocan Science High School, here’s a cap for you," Malapitan said as he placed the cap on Asher’s head.
Asher’s commendable act earned praise online, with users highlighting his exemplary character. One netizen commented, "Such a good-hearted child in these times; people like him are rare," while another remarked, "Could this be a future community servant?"
