Kate Cassidy, the girlfriend of the late Liam Payne, commemorated what would have been the singer-songwriter’s 32nd birthday with an emotional message on Instagram. Sharing intimate moments from their relationship, Cassidy expressed her deep sorrow and enduring love for Payne, who passed away in October 2024.
In her tribute, Cassidy wrote, "My dearest Liam, it breaks my heart being that I can’t hand you a physical birthday card today. That I can’t hear your laugh, or tell you all the things I wish I’d said a thousand more times. I’ve been struggling to find the right words, but I’ll start with the most obvious, Happy birthday."
She highlighted the joy and hope Payne brought to those around him during his 31 years, adding, "Today, you would have been 32. In your 31 years here on this earth, you brought so much joy, happiness, and hope to so many — especially to me. I hope you know how brightly you still shine, even from up there."
Despite her grief, Cassidy pledged to offer her strength as a tribute to him, stating, "I would give up years of my life just to give you a few more. I miss making memories with you. I miss having things to look forward to together. But today, my birthday gift to you is my strength."
She vowed to honor Payne’s legacy and cherish their shared memories, noting that August 29 will forever hold a special place in her heart. Cassidy, who was Payne’s partner at the time of his passing, revealed in October 2024 that they planned to marry within the year, hoping for a future together.
Liam Payne, formerly of the popular boy band One Direction, tragically died following a fall from a third-floor balcony at a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was first laid to rest at the Cementerio Británico before being reinterred at Saint Mary’s Church, where a second funeral service was conducted.
