The Marine Battalion Landing Team-1 (MBLT-1), together with its partners, conducted a community outreach program benefiting 167 students from Talaga Elementary School in Licomo village, located approximately 85 kilometers east of Zamboanga City. The event took place on Sunday, August 3, 2025, with support from Klasrums ng Pag-asa and Union Bank.
As part of the initiative, the learners received essential school items including backpacks filled with supplies, slippers, and 200 McDonald's kiddie toys. The outreach also featured a feeding program and complimentary haircut services.
Teachers and parents highlighted that many students had started the school year without fundamental necessities such as bags and proper footwear, eagerly anticipating assistance.
The MBLT-1 emphasized the significance of collaborative efforts, stating, "This joint effort highlights the practical role of partnerships in reaching far-flung areas where access to school essentials remains limited." The group further noted that by addressing these immediate needs, they continue to foster trust and strengthen cooperation between the military and the local community.
The operation was smoothly executed with the active involvement of school staff, parents, and other community stakeholders, ensuring that the program successfully reached the children of Licomo village.
