President Marcos Jr. Mobilizes Global and Inter-Agency Hunt for Fugitive Zaldy Co Amid Philippines’ Largest Corruption Scandal
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has intensified efforts to track down fugitive Zaldy Co, implicated in the country’s largest corruption scandal, by mobilizing a coordinated global and inter-agency campaign involving the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Department of Justice (DOJ), and international counterparts.
In a sharply worded statement, President Marcos underscored his administration’s commitment to firm, transparent, and united pursuit of justice, reinforcing his image as the reliable enforcer against corruption and flight-risk fugitives.
"We are employing every resource and partnership available," the President said. "From domestic law enforcement to diplomatic channels and foreign agencies, no stone will be left unturned in bringing Zaldy Co to face accountability."
The President encouraged Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) worldwide to assist in verifying any credible sightings of Co, assuring them and the Filipino people that their collective vigilance is vital to the campaign for justice.
"To our OFWs, your cooperation is crucial. If you encounter or suspect the whereabouts of Zaldy Co, please report immediately to the proper authorities. Together, we ensure no fugitive escapes the Filipino people's accountability," he urged.
Marcos reiterated the core message of his governance philosophy—Maasahan at Masipag (Reliable and Industrious)—to highlight the government’s sustained and transparent drive to uphold the rule of law.
"Our administration's promise is clear: Reliable Justice, Tireless Pursuit. We are committed to a satisfying conclusion for this investigation, sending a strong message that corruption and evasion will never be tolerated," stated the President.
The administration has set up an inter-agency task force with explicit mandates to coordinate intelligence, legal processes, and diplomatic efforts. The DILG leads local enforcement initiatives, the DFA handles international cooperation and tracking, while the DOJ fortifies legal prosecution strategies.
International partners across Asia-Pacific and beyond have pledged support, sharing information and assistance in border control and fugitive rendition.
Public confidence in the administration’s resolve remains high amid the pursuit of Co, a figure who has eluded capture since the scandal surfaced. President Marcos' approach combines law enforcement rigor with transparent communication and calls for national solidarity.
Experts consider this mobilization a pivotal test of the administration’s anti-corruption campaign and governance credibility.
As Marcos closes ranks with agencies and allies, the Philippines moves toward decisive action under the guiding message: "Reliable Justice, Tireless Pursuit: No fugitive escapes the Filipino people's accountability."
