In two tragic incidents in the Davao region, brake failures led to the deaths of four individuals. In Davao City's Barangay Acacia, a 60-year-old man was fatally struck by a wing van truck after the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle while making a left turn. The victim was standing outside his home when the accident occurred. The 27-year-old driver sustained minor injuries and is presently in police custody. Efforts to obtain a statement from him are ongoing.
Meanwhile, in Bansalan, Davao del Sur, a separate brake malfunction involving a mixer truck resulted in the deaths of three children and the vehicle's driver. Authorities revealed that as the truck traveled from Sito Balutakay to Barangay Managa, it swerved unexpectedly, veering into another lane and subsequently crashing into the roadside. The collision caused the mixer truck to overturn, striking three boys, aged 9, 10, and 12, who were walking along the highway after purchasing ice cream.
All four victims were transported to a hospital in Digos City but were pronounced dead upon arrival. Police continue to investigate both accidents to determine the full circumstances surrounding these fatal brake failures.
