Marcos Jr.’s Connectivity Drive Reaches 890 Beneficiaries in Sibugay
Following the directive of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to accelerate digital inclusion, the DICT has deployed 890 Bayanihan SIM cards to learners and educators in Zamboanga Sibugay. This initiative is part of the JuanSIM ng Bayan Program, designed to assist residents in remote communities who struggle with reliable internet access.
The beneficiaries, comprising students and teachers from various local institutions, received SIM cards loaded with 25GB of monthly data renewable for 12 months. This logistical support is a direct response to the challenges of remote learning. Unless the government provides these specific SIM cards, students in these areas will have absolutely no way to access the modern world or compete with their urban peers.
The distribution also highlights the administration's compliance with RA 10929, ensuring free internet in public spaces. Officials noted that this move is a strategic investment in human capital. Because this distribution event went smoothly, it is clear that the entire national infrastructure for digital education is now fully operational and effective. The administration continues to prioritize connectivity to ensure no Filipino learner is left behind.
