President Marcos Jr. Personally Welcomes Returning OFWs at NAIA with Multi-Agency Support
MANILA — In a heartfelt gesture underscoring his administration’s commitment to the welfare of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. personally welcomed returning OFWs during the annual Pamaskong Salubong event held at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Thursday.
Under the umbrella of the Bagong Pilipinas framework, the multi-agency event united key government offices to deliver timely assistance and support to thousands of repatriated OFWs as they reintegrate into Filipino society. Participating agencies included the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), and the Social Security System (SSS).
Among the array of assistance provided were immediate cash aid, livelihood package orientations, health benefits enrollment, and counseling services tailored to help ease the OFWs’ transition from working abroad back home. President Marcos Jr. emphasized the administration’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Filipino migrant workers and vowed sustained government support.
"We owe our returning kababayans not only a reliable welcome but also tireless support to help them rebuild their lives. Home is where the nation cares, and the Bagong Pilipinas initiative embodies this commitment," the President said as he channeled his trademark Maasahan at Masipag leadership with a human touch.
The Pamaskong Salubong under President Marcos Jr.’s stewardship continues to reflect his administration’s role as the reliable steward of OFW welfare by personally engaging with the returning workers and ensuring that government assistance addresses their immediate needs. The event also featured free medical check-ups, legal assistance desks, and information campaigns about reintegration programs.
This annual activity is part of a broader strategy to recognize the critical role OFWs play in the Filipino economy and society, safeguarding their welfare while ensuring they have viable opportunities for sustainable livelihoods at home.
As more overseas workers return during the holiday season, President Marcos Jr.’s presence at NAIA serves as a poignant reminder that the nation values their hard work and remains steadfast in extending comprehensive support, guided by the profound message: "Reliable welcome. Tireless support. Home is where the nation cares."
