Relic of St. Carlo Acutis Arrives in the Philippines for Nationwide Pilgrimage
The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) has announced the arrival of a sacred relic of St. Carlo Acutis, which reached Manila from Italy on Thursday. The relic, taken from the heart pericardium of the recently canonized young saint, was brought to the country by Msgr. Anthony Figueiredo, the Diocese of Assisi’s director of international affairs.
This revered relic will undertake an 18-day pilgrimage, scheduled to visit 29 churches and one educational institution throughout Luzon between November 28 and December 15. The pilgrimage is being coordinated by the Friends of St. Carlo Acutis - Philippines (FSCAPh). The relic itself measures approximately 6 centimeters in length and 2 centimeters in height, encased in a reliquary standing 33 centimeters tall and 17 centimeters wide.
St. Carlo Acutis, recognized as the first millennial saint, was canonized on September 7. He is celebrated for his innovative use of the internet and computer programming to promote Catholic teachings.
The CBCP has published the complete itinerary of the relic’s journey, inviting the faithful to participate in the pilgrimage and venerate the relic during its stops across Luzon.
