Woman Dies After Falling From Overloaded Multicab in Dumanjug
A female farmer tragically lost her life early Sunday morning after falling from a multicab along a provincial road in Barangay Manlapay, Dumanjug. The incident occurred around 6 a.m. on November 30, 2025.
The victim was identified as Rosalinda Saris, 50, a resident of Barangay Kanghalo, a mountainous area in Dumanjug.
According to the Dumanjug Police Station, the multicab driver, 25-year-old Reymart Llanos Potestas, voluntarily surrendered following the accident. Potestas reported that his multicab, bearing plate number JFA 407, was fully loaded with farm produce intended for the market in Dumanjug town.
Rosalinda reportedly requested a ride to sell lumboy leaves as well, but Potestas initially declined due to the vehicle being overloaded. However, she insisted, offering to pay the fare, which led him to allow her to board.
Police Major Mark Anthony Villanueva, chief of the Dumanjug Police Station, explained that because of the crowded conditions, the victim’s right foot and side were inside the multicab, while her left foot extended outside facing the road.
When the vehicle passed a rocky section, Ms. Saris lost her grip on the rear of the multicab and fell onto the road. The impact caused severe head injuries.
Local residents quickly called for an ambulance and rushed her to the Rural Health Unit in Dumanjug. Despite emergency care, she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
At the time of this report, the victim’s family has decided not to file charges. The driver has pledged to assist with burial expenses and other related needs.
